Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My sweet friends this year are primarily students whose first language is Spanish. In fact, after meeting them the first week, I knew learning Spanish had to be a top priority for me so that I could help them reach their potential.

My students are so sweet and absolutely LOVE learning.

I can't believe I get to be with them each day and watch them grow together. For students in which learning doesn't come easy, these friends have incredible drive and desire to learn. They explain things to one another in Spanish so that everyone understands and no one is left out. I could not have asked for a better group of kiddos at this new school.

My Project

The Presentation Book and flashcards listed on our page are the keys to opening up the world of reading to my students. Our school is a Title 1 school meaning we don't always have the funds we need to purchase essential materials, especially in the Special Education department. Our team shares textbooks and workbooks in order to ensure our students are getting as much access to the content that will help them the most in learning to read.

While our school is doing its absolute best to get us more of these materials for the students, there are so many loops we have to jump through in order to use certain funds.

By finding the funds ourselves, our students will be able to gain access to the materials more quickly. Along with the Presentation book, I am asking for the first 500 sight words to help my students work on their sight word identification. Many of my students have sight word goals and I want them to master many of these goals this year!

It's going to be an uphill climb but I know with these materials, my students will be able to climb all the mountains that lay ahead of them.
