My Project

Access is critical to reading success! My literacy support students have passion and drive! They are beyond determined to succeed and are desperate to learn how to read. I am determined to give them phonics based books that are accessible and credible! We are going back to the basics...my students need access to quality books that are truly decodable.

It is my goal to provide my young readers with age appropriate material they can actually decode and read!

I want to provide them with as many opportunities as possible to experience success while reading. For my struggling readers, that means starting with simple decodable books!

The DOG ON A LOG book series helps kids learn with a gradual progression based on phonics instruction. This strategy allows kids to learn to read without feeling so overwhelmed. These are sound-out books that start with just a few phonics rules. Each step that comes after adds a few more phonics rules and sight words. This incredible series follows an incremental, phonics-based pattern and slowly adds new skills to ensure successful reading development.
