With these items, students will be able to work with letters and sounds as they learn to identify, separate, stretch, blend, read and write words! We break apart words and identify each separate sound. The phonics blending cards and vowel tubs are great multisensory learning materials for students to interact with. They can be applied to multiple lessons in a variety of ways to add a visual component to the learning process. The mini-whiteboards will give students a place to hold their magnetic alphabet letters as they manipulate individual letters to build words. The larger board will give students the space to write short sentences using the new words we've learned. These items would be used daily in our classroom for word work, phonics, and sight word review. Students need exposure in multiple modalities for sounds and words to stick and for them to hold on to and access that information and knowledge at a later date. These resources add a boost of engagement and excitement to our lessons. My students benefit from a hands-on approach to learning. They need to touch, feel and experience the curriculum for it to register in a meaningful way and it needs to be fun!
