Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are a group of smart, enthusiastic students who deserve to have a classroom that fosters their desire to learn!

I work at a Title 1 Elementary school in Lawrence, MA.

Despite challenges faced at home, my students come to school ready to learn and grow. I want to be able to enhance their growing love towards reading and growth as learners and people!

My Project

The purpose of this project is to get decodable texts into our classroom library. My students work hard to learn new skills during Phonics and with decodable texts, they will be able to directly practice and apply the skills they are learning.

The decodable texts will match the current Phonics skill and since students have learned and practiced the skill, they will feel successful as readers when they come across it in a book and are able to apply what they learned and decode.

These books will be used during both independent reading and small group.
