Help me give my students colored paper and binder rings so that I can assemble decodable books and other literacy resources. The colored paper will help me color code by phonics skills.
Did you know the new hot term in the children's literacy world is decodable books? The materials in this project will help me in printing, folding, and stapling decodable books as well as assembling other decodable literacy materials. Companies are still working on publishing decodable text so in the meantime, many teachers are finding online resources that require teachers and supplies to assemble to use in their classroom until districts are able to purchase decodable books on a wide scale.
The colored paper will help me organize the books and other resources I assemble by phonics skills to make it easier to organize in my decodable library.
The binder rings will be used to make word rings to help boost the students' fluency with the phonics skills being learned and the ones previously taught.
First grade is a magical time in the world of reading for students, especially towards the end of the school year when their reading really takes off. The decodable books will help students build the foundational blocks of literacy that are crucial to their success in the rest of their education career. Both students who are native English speakers and English language learners will benefit from this project.
