As a K-2 Reading Intervention teacher, my job is to help students who are not proficient in reading become fluent readers. The Science of Reading research states that students need to practice reading decodable text that is explicitly and systematically taught. These decodable readers will allow me to progressively introduce words and more complex structures to my students (CVC, CVCe, digraphs, long vowel patterns). Our district has had a shift to focus on The Science of Reading research, but as intervention teachers, we lack access to materials to support our students learning, especially high interest decodable books such as these.
