Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have many challenges at home that make it hard for them to advance in their school learning. The school is located in a low socioeconomic community. Even with all these struggles at home, the students always come to school ready to engage in their daily activities. Also, due to the lack of classroom supplies and technology equipment, they cannot enhance and reach their academic goals.
My students attend a Title I school in Miami, FL.
Many of them are being raised in single-parent households. These students are in great need of school supplies.
I want to provide them with plenty of opportunities to excel academically and personally.
My Project
I would like to provide decodable books for my emergent readers. It is important to build their confidence as readers. These will be used during small group and in Independent Reading Center.
These books include word families and sight words that we learn, making them perfect for building fluency and increasing confidence in reading!
Students will have the opportunity to borrow these books to take them home and show off their new skills to their grownups at home! Letter magnets are my students' favorite activity and this pack will allow them to build words that they have read in the new stories.
