This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Have you ever watched a child learn to read? It is a magical process, and first grade is a crucial year for reading development. Kids go from reading simple words like "cat" to long words like "catnip" and tricky words like "bridge." How does this magical process happen? With lots and lots of practice, of course!
The Science of Reading movement is helping teachers understand that children need explicit, systematic phonics teaching to become strong readers.
We need books that are written to reinforce phonics concepts we are teaching, so that kids can practice on their own. I am also requesting a CuddleLoop to help meet student sensory needs. Please help our classroom continue our shift towards research-based reading instruction and purchase the books kids will enjoy reading.
