My students…how do I put into words the young minds entrusted to my charge that will grow and change the world through respect, creativity, energy, excitement, knowledge, problem-solving, and collaborating…I don’t. Instead, I spur them into action by constructing an environment filled with opportunities that challenge them to think and grow beyond anyone’s wildest imagination.
My students come from various cultures and socioeconomic levels, but in my class they are a family of learners, growing through experience, mistakes, trials, determination, perseverance, hard work.
I tell my students to dream big and in return, they challenge me to dream bigger. They do not want to be bystanders in their learning but at the center of the action creating, constructing, and exploring. The focus is not on the learning of today but the education they will need to make a lasting impact on the world of tomorrow.
My students are my heroes. In a world where I can be anything, I am thankful and honored to be their teacher. However, I cannot be the teacher my students deserve, and I aspire to be without help from the outside community. You are the dream makers.
As I move to a new school and grade level, I am desperately trying to create an engaging and exciting environment for my first-grade students that is organized and easy to navigate.
Kaneisha Grayson said, "Clutter in your physical surroundings will clutter your mind and spirit."
I want their energy to flow freely, allowing them to think clearly, create, and dream BIG as they tackle different educational opportunities. By providing them with cube organizers at the end of each of the tables, they will always have the tools and supplies they need at their fingertips. Demonstrating respect in this way allows them to learn and grow as they work both independently and collaboratively with their peers on various math and science challenges.
Thank you for helping me to free their minds and spirits as they open themselves to endless learning possibilities and grow into the mathematicians and scientist of tomorrow.
