My Students

My middle school students come from a rural area in South Dakota. We live in a small close-knit farming and ranching community. We have a very small science department, and many students have had limited science exposure when they come to my classroom.

I have diverse learning needs throughout my classroom, but all of my students are eager, enthusiastic, and innovative despite our low socioeconomic and Title I status.

They enjoy collaborative, hands-on projects, and working together to accomplish a goal.

My Project

My students work hard each day, & they have the opportunity to earn prizes at the end of their successful week. Students who complete their work on time each week are eligible for various rewards.

Completed and well done classroom work is the goal - and on Friday, we celebrate!

Our science class has a classroom lottery - complete your work, grab a ticket, win a prize!

Most items in this project will be used to replenish my prize bin. Students in middle school can be difficult to motivate, but small trinkets like squishies and candy bracelets do the job! They love prizes they can eat, so I always include some goodies they can choose from.

The remainder of the supplies are to make the lottery cards - laminating pouches and punches make fun prize cards. Thank you for your generous support of my classroom. All donations are so appreciated!
