Help me give my students Choices magazine which will empower them to become the strongest version of themselves outside and inside the classroom by meeting focusing on their physical, mental and emotional health.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live in a low socioeconomic community. Due to COVID-19 they have experience some mental stressors. Nearly half of my students are anxious about contracting COVID-19, and 6 out of 10 are worried about getting seriously ill or dying from it once we return to the traditional classroom setting. I want to provide them with some magazines to take their minds off of the anxiety or depression that they are feeling.
My Project
I will use this magazine to help guide discussions about real world issues that teens are deal with. This will help amplify student voices, encourage student advocacy, and promote agency in local and global communities. I still have several students who have difficulty getting access to the internet, so I want to be able to give them both print & digital version of Choices magazine for instruction.
My students are resilient and they need my support to navigate various issues since we have transitioned from traditional schooling to distance learning.
