This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With 3,196 students, 43% of them qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our senior class of 700 students comes from a plethora of socio-economic backgrounds. The majority of our students are Pell Grant eligible and their families fall into the low-income tax bracket.
Our students are motivated.
Our scholars are hard workers, athletes, artists, and technicians; they represent all of the complexities of life, and they deserve to be celebrated.
My Project
My project is focused on supporting our low-income, first-generation students in their transition to college. Many of our students do not have access to printers or laptops at home, so they have struggled academically during this year's pandemic. Unfortunately, due to their financial circumstances at home, they are unable to purchase electronic materials that will help them efficiently complete their classroom projects.
With these materials, my students will be able to leap over their financial barriers and complete their college assignments.
With your donation, you can help four students feel confident with their transition to a college environment. The laptops and printers will be raffled off to students at our Decision Day event on May 14, 2021. Decision Day is an event that celebrates our seniors' commitment to a college, university, or the military. #CollegeSigningDay #ReachHigher
