Help me give my students a small gift to commemorate their decisions of post graduation. These decisions are a major life milestone for many of these students who do not have at home support in this process.
I have the honor and privilege of serving multiple grade levels within a small, rural school district. Each year I am astounded by my students perseverance, growth and determination to take steps to ensure a better future for themselves. They are fun, caring, smart and unique. I have the special circumstances to be able to work with them over the course of four years, which means I see their amazing growth and watch them develop into young adults. It is because of this small school environment that my students end of feeling like a family. They grow up together; overcome many obstacles and celebrating many triumphs along the way. Being a part of a small school presents its challenges, but it does not prevent my students from accomplishing amazing things!
My Project
We are holding a celebration for students recognizing their post secondary decisions. This celebration is promoted throughout younger grades to raise awareness of what it means to be working towards a brighter future.
This is the moment they have been waiting for, and working hard towards.
For some, this is an even more important moment in time than their graduation is. This is THE MOMENT that they acknowledge how their hard work has paid off and led them to the choice they've made for their future. It brings a sense of accomplishment and pride to my students.
These items, hopefully will bring them a sense of pride and be a reminder for later in life when things may be difficult. We want our students to recognize that they have made some adult decisions and are capable and competent. These little tokens are meant to be a visible reminder that they are doing the things they need for their future.
