Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach third grade at Valle Vista in San Jose. My school is 49% free lunch, and 40% of our students are English Language Learners. The students in my class have a difficult time with Decimals and Number Sense. Because Number Sense is the foundation for so many other skills, it is important that the students have a clear understanding of it. I want to help my class grasp these concepts next year with a Place Value Pocket Chart Kit, a Giant Decimal Practice Board, and twenty Student Decimal Practice Boards.
Place Value Pocket Chart Kit helps place value concepts really make sense to students…with a giant-sized activity chart that lets the whole class practice together! It is a nylon chart that is labeled with each place value from ones to millions. Also included are tons of additional cards to display each number in expanded and written form—-and the number cards are even color-coded for easy problem solving!
We would also like the Giant Decimal Practice Board and 20 Student Decimal Practice Boards. The Practice Board is a big, freestanding board that makes it easy for the whole class to explore and compare whole numbers and decimals—-from the thousands place all the way down to thousandths! The board has seven sets of color-coded flips with numbers 0-9. It also has an activity guide on the back. The desk-sized boards let students explore decimals on their own! Each desk-sized board has seven sets of flips with numbers 0-9, which are all labeled from the thousands to the thousandths place.
