My Students
Students that I teach are in grades 9 - 12. They are in the Intermediate Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Concert Choir and Music Appreciation. With the exception of Music Appreciation, most of these students have participated and performed in a music ensemble/group since they were in the 4th grade.
The orchestras, band and choir have participated in the California Music Educators Association Festivals and have achieved Excellent, Superior and Unanimous Superior ratings.
My students perform 4 concerts each school year. These concerts take place in the school gym that has a sound system adequate for sporting events but not for music events.
My Project
My Choir students learn various genres of choral music every day. They work as a team to sing their notes correctly and sing their words clearly.
My students have been disappointed when the audience can not hear the efforts of the work that has been developed during rehearsals due to a sound system that is unable to project and amplify the details involved with the music they have learned.
With a new sound system, students will strive to perfect their intonation and their words when they know that the audience will hear their choral performance with a good sound system.
Our music concerts are performed in the school gym which makes it difficult for the audience to hear the choral performances.
