DECA For All

We need a water dispenser to help serve our student body within our student run restaurant, the Tiger TUB.

About My Students

My students are DECA members who travel to compete in business and marketing events. DECA students run our school store, to fund our trips and competition expenses. For example, every year we visit the Fall Leadership Conference in Seattle to hear presentations from industry leaders. Just recently, we also visited Glacier Peak High School for area competition. Without a profitable Tiger TUB, we’d send fewer kids to conferences and competition..

Not only does our TUB fund our DECA chapter, it’s also an environment to train future workers. The TUB feeds approximately 300 students a day, a customer base that is perfect for learning to serve. Tiger TUB workers rotate through all jobs in the TUB, learning to run point of sale systems, prepare food, and learn how a business runs. Students who have been trained in the TUB can then use their experience to get real paying jobs outside of school.

Since our school store profits go to DECA expenses, we’re unable to purchase a water dispenser for the students that visit us every day, along with other clubs and community groups that use our facility on a regular basis. If we could attract more students to our Tiger TUB with a cool water dispenser, we could increase sales profits and the number of kids we take to DECA competition.

In Their Own Words

In the T.U.B, the most important thing we learn is customer service. With a hot/cold water dispenser we're able to better serve our customers, even those who can't purchase anything, and also draw other students to eat in the T.U.B., rather than eating lunch somewhere else. Customer loyalty is extremely important to our Tiger T.U.B. because it supplies our DECA chapter with funding and students on campus have other options for lunch, so we have to take care of them. A water cooler for all those who visit us is a perfect way we can give back to our student body.

This project demonstrates how we can better serve our customers that in turn support our DECA chapter. Knowing that we can take an idea and mold it into an action plan with the help of Donors Choose and their generous participants has inspired us as a leadership team and we hope to lead by example and show the rest of our campus that great things can be accomplished when you set your mind to it.

This hot/cold water dispenser is important for our school store because it helps the students who don't have the money to purchase lunch here still come and enjoy the T.U.B.'s environment. Many students bring "add hot water" type lunches to school. With a hot/cold water dispenser, our Tiger T.U.B. will be an even more welcoming place to eat lunch..
