Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My diverse classroom is composed primarily of English Language Learners in a high poverty area. My students come from different academic, linguistic, and sociocultural backgrounds. They are eager learners who need time, understanding, and a friendly environment that gives them the security and opportunity to discover themselves and their world.

Most of my students start 2nd Grade without knowing how to read or write.

Our school does not have a library, so it is in the classroom that students have the opportunity to read and listen to stories, to learn about their world and to discover how much they can do for the future.

My Project

I want to make sure that every child in my classroom will have a delighted memory this holiday season. The books I am requesting will be part of this pleasant experience. I will make a holiday bag for each student in my class and each bag will have at least one very happy book. I truly believe that books bring smiles and help children discover the pleasure of reading.

For this holiday season, I wish all my students will have at least one book in their hands so they can warm their hearts with a lovely story.

In my classroom I have a collection of Winnie the Witch books. They are highly illustrated books that capture the attention of young learners instantly. The books are easy to read and fall in love. All my students love Winnie and they would love to own one of her books.

Reading is part of our daily routine; I try to include nonfiction and fiction texts in most of our learning experiences. I think that by including some math books in our math lessons will enhance the learning experience by providing students who do not like mathematics to experience it in a different way. Hopefully, having students reading mathematics will give them a new perspective and facilitate mathematical thinking.

Learning is supposed to be fun. Reading is an easy way to travel around the world and embark on amazing adventures. Please help my students to escape to a special place this holiday season. With a book on their hands, they will have an open door to explore...
