Deaf Tech: Part 1

My project needs materials for hands-on experience in learning math, overhead sets, unifix cubes, fractions materials, hands-on set, and market math.

This project is fully funded

I teach at the SC School for the Deaf. I am a mathematics teacher to grades 2 - 5. My students are a special education focus, self contained students. The students are in a supportive community and staff.

My students really enjoy hands-on learning and cooperative learning experiences, however there are not enough math manipulatives to use for a whole class. The students need the visual aspect of learning and kinesthetic learning experience also. My students are special in their own right, because they only thing that they cannot do is hear. The materials we have are outdated and I know the students and myself would really enjoy using the new materials.

I need math manipulatives for my class. I know the things that would be received would be well used in group activities, and hands-on learning. These students may not be able to hear, but they need visually active learning environment. I believe that these manipulatives would provide the visually rich learning environment and hands-on learning that they need.
