Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We would love to get a water table for our classroom. I teach a class with deaf and hard of hearing 3 and 4-year-olds, and they love to play in the water. A water table is a great opportunity for them to learn all sorts of vocabulary. Most of our kids come to school with very little language. Our number one goal is for them to be able to learn the language they need to communicate. A water table would do wonders in helping them learn signs while they have a great time splashing and playing with water toys. I would use the table to teach all sorts of words/ signs. I would have the kids fill up the tub using the signs for turn on, water, hose, full, stop and turn off. As you can see, every step in the process of using this table will be signed/ said so that the children get as much language input as possible. Once we start to play with the table, the language the children can learn from it is really only limited by our imaginations and thankfully we have very creative ones! We would learn such words as: swim, sink , float, boat, wet, dry, drip, cold warm, and the list goes on and on. The possibilities for language lessons are really endless. This table would be a great asset for our program and our students. Thank you for supporting our students.
