To create a calming environment for middle schoolers, I am requesting funding for a variety of sensory and organizational items. These include a rotating wooden puzzle board with storage drawers to help students engage in calming puzzles during stressful moments. Magnetic sorting drawers allow puzzles to be easily organized and stored neatly away.
Calming LEGO building sets provide an outlet for creative expression and focus.
Weather-themed sensory tubes with oil, water, and glitter encourage mindfulness as students observe the calming motion. Squishy sensory stress balls in fun shapes provide tactile relief for anxious hands. Butterfly desktop sculptures add a serene presence. Liquid motion bubblers with flowing glitter help students practice breathing techniques as they follow the bubbles. Pin impression toys allow the release of energy as images are pressed into clay. A storage case neatly organizes building bricks for open-ended construction. Finally, beautiful nature-themed puzzles of landscapes, flowers, and animals offer immersive play for a singular focus. With de-escalation tools that engage multiple senses while promoting organization, creativity, and calm, students will have supportive options to self-regulate emotions and find their center. This therapeutic space will foster positive well-being and community for middle schoolers.
