My Project

Decodable texts play a crucial role in literacy development, providing a plethora of benefits for students. Decodables are designed with a systematic and phonics-based approach, allowing students to decode words by applying their knowledge of letter-sound relationships. This method enhances their phonemic awareness, a foundational skill for reading.

Decodable texts also support the development of fluency.

By gradually introducing and reinforcing phonetic patterns, students gain confidence in recognizing and reading words, leading to smoother and more automatic reading. This fluency, in turn, contributes to improved comprehension as students can focus on understanding the text rather than struggling with decoding.

Additionally, decodable texts promote a sense of achievement and motivation in readers. As students successfully navigate through these texts, they experience a tangible progression in their reading abilities, fostering a positive attitude towards learning. This positive reinforcement is crucial in building a strong foundation for lifelong reading habits.

The use of decodable texts is paramount as these texts systematically build essential phonics skills, enhance fluency, and instill a sense of accomplishment and motivation in students. This will lay the groundwork for proficient and enjoyable reading experiences for years to come.

Ms. Labelle will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 13.
