My Students

My class consists of 20 first grade students who have such excitement about school and enthusiasm for learning new things. They come to school each day with a smile on their face ready to meet whatever challenge I give to them. They strive to be caring and kind by practicing the 7 Habits that will make them a successful future leader.

I absolutely adore the persistence, passion, and excitement that my first-grade students show me each day as they approach learning new topics.

Some students have limited speech and language skills, and/or fine motor delays. The ability levels and school readiness varies from student to student in the class. My class is a diverse group of learners who come from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. As a group, these students socialize and help each other as if they have known each other for years and treat each other like a family!

My Project

The magnetic designer board is a fascinating way for students to build patterning skills and hand/eye coordination. Students can use the pattern cards as a template to create a picture, or they can use their own imaginations and creativity to design their own masterpiece. Students practice self-control and self-regulation by carefully moving the magnet disks around the board. They practice patience and persistence as they carefully control fine-motor skills. Our students can also practice color recognition, patterns, and counting which are important math concepts for this grade level. These boards are a perfect activity for our students to use during Brain Lab as we carefully teach and practice executive functioning skills!
