Students spend most of their time at school. The items in this project will ensure that my students have what they need to feel comfortable and taken care of, whether they are working or playing, in my classroom. The disposable toothbrushes, pads, bandaids, water bottles, and deodorant will go in our "student center" and are there for students to use as needed. The yoga mats, stools, and standing table will be offered as flexible seating options to students so they may work where they are comfortable. The organizational bins will be used to hold whiteboards, clipboards, and other items that my students need easy access to, but may not use daily. The markers, colored pencils, hot glue, magnets, clay, and yarn will be used for various art projects throughout the year.
Historically school has not been a welcoming place for Indigenous students like mine, and the donations in this project will help ensure ALL students feel supported and taken care of while at school.
I find that having these items available in my classroom helps build a welcoming and trusting environment. Any donation is so appreciated and loved, as I would have paid for all of these items myself. (Shoutout to Donors Choose for this opportunity and to this community of people.)
