Dash Is Dandy: Robotics In The Classroom

My students need experience with computer science... and the addition of Dash to our classroom will provide that opportunity.

My Students

Every morning my students enter the room and are ready for a 21st century day of learning. Our classroom is not your typical classroom... filled with beanbags, stools, and crates, there are no desks or chairs! There is also a makerspace; where students are encourages to invent and engineer solutions to problems. Last, my classroom is a paperless 1:1 classroom. Why do all of this... for my students.

The passion and love for learning is present within the students at our school.

Our school is located in a rural community where the student population is over 60% free or reduced lunch.

My Project

Computer science is on the rise within our community and early exposure is key. As a 4th grade educator, I strive to give my students to as many opportunities as possible within my classroom. Dash is a "real robot, charged and ready to play out of the box. Responding to voice, navigating objects, dancing, and singing, Dash is the robot you always dreamed of having."

Having Dash as a part of my makerspace (a place of making), will create another outlet to peak my students' interest.

My students will have the chance to interact with Dash and program him to complete different tasks.
