Darlings and Diamonds 101...Catch the fever!

My students need softballs, a batting tee, and bats to help them learn to hit the ball. The net is great to teach throwing and catching. These items will help with learning the basics.

My Students

"I cannot wait until next year!" "I really did it, I hit the ball!" This is the words of some of the girls when they realized they played a season of softball and were successful. After getting the girls softball middle school team established last year and receiving help for equipment, the season was a hit! There were friendships and memories made that will last a lifetime.

"The girls involved with this project are 7th and 8th graders with a passion to be successful."

Our school serves around 350 students grades 7-12, with so few students, course electives and extracurricular activities are limited. In our rural community, students are not offered many opportunities to participate in sports or other activities due to the lack of finances or transportation. Getting students involved in school activities that receive help and support from donors is crucial to their success in school and life. Students always seem to thrive when they are surrounded by peers that encourage them and give them a sense of worth. This team has shown just that. They have developed relationships that will last a lifetime and memories that will never fade.

My Project

The materials will provide students with opportunities to learn how to hit, catch, and throw a softball. It will provide stations so all students are able to participate.Having the materials to have a softball team will also provide an opportunity that will improve their communication skills, enhance the relationships with their peers, and help them to build confidence in themselves.

In our rural community, students need opportunities to grow and be exposed to learning experiences.

They will learn the basic skills of the sport and also that hard work pays off. Not only will the students be part of a "team" but they will build relationships that will last a lifetime and make memories that will be around forever!

We need a variety of bats as well as balls with which to practice. We need a deluxe return trainer and a batting tee to help us with our batting. We also need a glove and a bat bag.
