This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first grade classroom is full of eager, excited students who all want to be able to show what they know.
My students begin every morning singing a song about how our classroom is like a home.
They all enjoy sharing information about the skills we are learning. The school in which I am employed is in a very low income area. To save money, many years ago the administrators bought shower board sheets to use as dry erase boards. After a number of years, these boards do not erase well and have retained a number of ink stains. This has made the boards very hard to utilize.
My Project
If my students were to receive a large magnetic dry erase board and dry erase markers, they would be able to share their work with others, demonstrate and explain how they solve problems, and utilize the magnetic manipulatives that we have in our classroom.
If this project is successful, my students will have more opportunities to share their work, demonstrate their skills, and use drawn and magnetic visuals to solve problems.
Since the magnetic dry erase board will be serviceable for a number of years, this project will benefit students for years to come.
