Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a small (only 8 teachers) Title I school where 90% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students come from a low socioeconomic neighborhood. Parents have to work long hours to provide for their families. Many of my students stay in the after-school program as a means of babysitting.
My students need fun and engaging activities and resources to help them learn how to read at their academic level.
This will allow them to close that learning gap compared to their peers of more affluent families.
My Project
Everyone loves learning new songs! Even when we don't want to they catch on. Students enjoy learning new songs and dancing. This helps students enjoy learning. It helps them become successful and confident in their academic performance. With this kinesthetic approach, my students will become great readers. It just takes some creativity and resources to see them soar into new heights. We will be working in whole group learning the new song with the new dance moves. This will also help students become more active and not just sitting all day long. The CDs and DVD'S also come with extra resources that help students work on their new learning.
