Dear Potential Donors,
Thank You so much for your aid.
The dance program is VERY new. We are diving into our second-year of the program. All of the schools in the district are Title-1 schools, in which 100% of students receive Free Lunch.
Due to their socio-economic status, the students lack experiences and the importance of the arts. Most of the students have never seen a professional concert of any sort, performed on a stage, or even been outside of their city.
Even with these barriers, my students strive to learn more about their discipline every class period. Not having the resources to train outside of school, the students truly take advantage of my knowledge and wisdom in the artform. A lot of them have insane, raw talent and are extremely gifted learners. They are passionate individuals and are excited to share what they've learned with the district, school, community, peers, and family.
These items will assist our program with starting an official wardrobe and costume collection. The skirts I chose are just a few of the items my students will be able to use for various genres of dance and themed-works.
When students are given the opportunity to wear costuming, their attitudes, confidence, stage presence, and performance drastically transform.
After accessing this age group of students, I found that they are stimulated by appearance and being visually pleasing. Students are more inclined to approach the performing arts disciplines when they feel confident and beautiful while doing it. A lot of the students have never had the opportunity to perform on a professional stage; and with costuming, lighting, and the great choreography, my students will have the opportunity many before them didn't.
