This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hip Hop Dance Club includes all high school students who are interested in dancing and learning hip hop dance style. These students are committed to their club by learning new dance moves and incorporating different music genres. They are helpful by encouraging and motivating each other whom have different levels of dance skills. They try hard every day and continuously impress the entire school with their dance abilities.

Hip Hop Dance Club is only one year old; however, the group feels like they've known each other for years.

Their connection and relationships are worth spending time with.

These students come from a lower income area where most of them qualify for free or reduced lunch. These students do not have any funds in their account or at their personal homes. They have big goals for the year if this opportunity was given.

My Project

At the beginning of last year, Hip-Hop Dance Club started dancing in my classroom with no mirrors, no fans, no PA System, and no music software. These dedicated students would dance outside in the Arizona heat without any fans. They would play music from their cell-phones, and their music selection was small because of the lack of DJ Software. Our members have no choice but to dance on the concrete floor of a classroom.

The DJ Software, a PA speaker system and fan will greatly enhance their spirits and benefit the following years.

They will no longer be sweating without an accessible fan. They will no longer have to whisper just to be able to hear the music to dance to. They will no longer have to dance to only one song on repeat. I can already envision the humble impact that these students will experience. For most of these students, this club is the only pleasure that they have in life.
