Dance Theater Team Jackets

Help me give my students uniform jackets to help foster school pride and dance team spirit.

My Students

My school is a Title I, single-gender academy and my students are girls studying the art of dance. They are a combination of young ladies who have been dancing since the age of 4, and girls who are trying out dance for the first time as high and middle schoolers. My students have the privilege of attending a single-gender school that provides them with the freedom and support to become leaders and citizens who will change the world around them.

Every day my students recite a school creed and pledge that reminds them that in spite of the world around them, they do not have to be helpless victims to their surroundings.

The creed and pledge reminds them to see themselves as strong, courageous, and beautiful leaders of tomorrow and today.

My students are girls who are gaining an understanding that dance is not just a form of amusement but can also be a tool for inspiration and communication. This year the students were allowed to pick dance as elective as opposed to it simply being issued to them. Therefore my students are girls who have a deep appreciation, interest, and value for dance as a performing art.

My Project

Dance Theater team jackets will help to foster a sense of pride and unity for my students, pride in their school and extracurricular dance organization. Dance Theater is an extracurricular dance offering at my school dedicated to challenge and meet the needs of students whose passion and interest in dance surpasses the average. I have students that work very hard with aspirations of becoming a highly competitive dance team. Knowing how dance can often be taken for granted, the dancers desire team jackets to promote that they are an important, vibrant, excellent, and contributing part of the sports and extracurricular school community. Team uniforms have a way of unifying and rallying pride and excitement for a team or organization.

Team jackets help to promote a sense of pride and belonging to an extracurricular activity, and that helps to increase feelings of significance and self-worth.

Once received, the jackets will have the CSKYWLA Dance Theater logo placed on them. The dance theater participants will wear these jackets during school and when we travel to perform at community events. The team jackets will encourage involvement in this very pro-social activity.
