This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The question to this portion is "What makes my students special?" The best fit answer is, what doesn't! HMS is located in the City of Progress which only makes it proof that we as well, are trying to progress and provide a better experience for our students. In Florida the cost of living is very expensive and most of our students are recent arrivals from different countries and/or come from poverty. Despite these life obstacles, these students can always be found with a smiling face, uplifting personality, and an eagerness to do it all. With the amazing support of our principal, we have been given the go ahead to start any clubs or programs that will give all students a chance to grow as a student and an individual. We have also been recently approved to become a dance magent for the upcoming school year.

My Project

We just opened the Dance magnet at our school. Each year we have purchased large items to help build our room of four walls. We have been fortunate enough to get mirrors and a wooden flor, but now it is time to add the final item needed to cretae our dance room which are by having ballet barres.

Students have been learning ballet since school started, but unfortunately they have been unable to use barres because there wasn't suficient funds for them.

Through this project we will be able to get closer to having enough barres to provide ach student with a real ballet experience.
