This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a wide range of wonderful students who are attending this Title I school. Many are low income, but are doing their best to achieve their individual goals. Several of them are ESL students and are trying to juggle two languages as well as several different learning formats including online and in-person.

My Project

Being able to effectively take advantage of the learning requirements and standards of 5th grade is especially challenging during this time of uncertainty. With many schools closing or transitioning to an online format, the 2021-2022 school year is wrought with questions and hard to navigate. Having individual headphones and books are necessary during this period of rapid spread.

My class loves to learn and the thought of trying to do school work from home is a daunting idea for many of them.

These supplies will allow them to learn in person every day, but also learn from home if required. Several of my students get overstimulated easily and the headphones will allow many of them to focus on the tasks at hand while minimizing distractions. Being a Title 1 school, many of my students are unable to purchase their own earbuds or headphones and Covid makes it unsafe to share equipment. These supplies will continue to keep my students safe and still able to effectively learn the material required.
