Dale's Reading Room

Help me give my students good experiences with reading-- my reading-focused class needs class-sets of books as well as snacks to eat while they read. They come in hungry and learn to offer their classmates snacks, too.

My Project

To have a class set of interesting books will help my students focus on reading and reading skills. They'll have something to discuss together and something to focus on while we read aloud. Studies have shown that reading along silently as others read aloud is a proven way to boost reading scores.

Snacks are always helpful -- especially for the SEL of my class; everyone's hungry before lunch, and the first person in class helps to offer snacks to everyone else, bonding us together.

It is simple, and easy, and a small way for students to care for one another.
