Each class section is divided into five sub-sections, which provide places for notes, writing tasks, assessments, readings, and important course information. They were excited to peruse the new titles and have up-to date copies of The Outsiders for their class project. The Outsiders is an important novel for us each year -- we study character in depth, and students each had their own copy without waiting for the district copies to come in. \r\n\r\nStudents also loved their new journals. They loved the colors on the sides and were happy to open them up to write down their ideas about their vocabulary and novels. Character notes, character doodles, and vocabulary words were happily stowed inside these small, colorful journals. \r\n\r\nThank you also for our snacks. Nearly 400 students participated in the Mexikid community project at my school, with about 100 submitting visual art. We read the memoir in class, and students were charged with researching to investigate the art style of their choice.
