Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There is a great privilege in teaching at the elementary school that I attended. The students at this Title I, low socioeconomic school display a growth mindset, and they are eager to grow, learn, and conquer as they overcome daily challenges. Students exemplify grit.
Our school motto of "When I Believe, I Can" is seen daily when students demonstrate that hard work goes hand-in-hand with dedication.
Students inspire each other and display empathy. Students have created a family environment uniting both faculty and staff on campus.
My Project
Classrooms have evolved over the years from rows of student desks to cooperative group seating. Students and teachers are faced with daily challenges to meet the needs of academic success.
In society, we see the benefits of-out-the-box thinking.
Creating a self-management classroom will lead to social awareness and an opportunity for further learning. Flexible seating is one method that promotes students' meta-cognitive learning.
Students will be able to choose what seating works best for their learning. Something simple as giving students the ability to select a seat will empower their well-being, provide comfort, support sensory input and learning style.
