My students need materials to learn!
Every year, I get to a point where my students are learning and the flow is just right, and then all of a sudden, our school is out of supplies! No laminating paper, no markers and no ink.
I can be creative to teach same vs. different, and sorting by colors. I can even be creative to teach kids to count on a number line. However at some point not everything can be taught with a worksheet or a video. My students need tactile, manipulative and individualized materials to learn and master the goals chosen for them each year. What I’m asking for is access to a years worth of materials so there are no more barriers to teaching my students.
In special education, all we have is the momentum of learning and slowing down the pace is not fair to my students as we essentially lose weeks of valuable time to learn life changing lessons. Today my student asked me “can you call my mom to tell her I know the seasons?” My face lit up with joy as I realized how much progress she made and how proud she was of herself. I want more of those moments! With your help we can foster more proud moments for these students and change their lives.
