This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a wonderfully diverse school with students from many different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I grew up in a time where I did not see people who looked like me in books, television, movies, etc.

I know firsthand how incredibly important representation is.

I want to make sure my students can see themselves in the curriculum and activities I incorporate in the classroom.

This project will help by supplying me with the materials I need to create hands-on projects that promote diversity, understanding and create an environment of inclusion in my classroom.

My Project

I teach at a very diverse school. My class has students of many cultural backgrounds, religions, and ethnicities. I find it so important for my students to see themselves represented in the curriculum and understand that they are valued.

The materials from this project will enable me to incorporate lessons into my curriculum that focus on cultural diversity and representation.

The literature, hands-on projects, and quality resources obtained here will make this subject matter tangible and interesting for my students.

Incorporating diversity into elementary teaching is so important. It teaches our students to grow into open-minded global citizens.
