My Students
My students are some of the most amazing, determined, and resilient young people I’ve ever met. I’m inspired daily by their strength and drive to do and be better for themselves. They come from unique backgrounds and a variety of socio-economic situations. However, when they enter my classroom, they know that we are all working towards a common goal- to do everything we can to make the future as bright as possible. I want to give my students the strongest possible foundation for success.
In order to achieve this, I have to push my students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and proficient readers.
I expect a lot from them, but I know they are more capable than they sometimes believe. As a teacher, I live for the “Aha!” moments when a difficult task suddenly makes sense and becomes easy.
My Project
High school can be an awkward time as teenagers are discovering who they are. Many students do not like getting up in front of the class for any reason, let alone having to get up and speak. My students need to get comfortable with presenting information to each other because it is a great way to increase retention, especially when dealing with hard-to-master topics.
A mobile laptop cart will allow my students to present from anywhere in the room- wherever they are comfortable!
Presentation anxiety will go out the window and my students will feel as though they are in total control of their public speaking.
