My kids are awesome! We are a large public urban high school, grades 9-12, with about 1500 kids. The student body is awesomely diverse in part because our high school serves as the ESL center for Pittsburgh Public Schools.
My classroom is an inclusion classroom which has a variety of learners including English language learners, autistic support students, students with learning disabilities and other special education needs all in one room.
I've found their uniqueness makes my art class even more amazing because of the myriad of backgrounds, needs, and experiences from which they pull their inspiration to make art!
My Project
My students use fabric scissors nearly everyday of the school year. Throughout the year, our scissors become dull which makes cutting fabric difficult. When students struggle to cut their fabric they become frustrated. And I understand!
Have you ever tried to cut fabric with dull scissors?
It is a frustrating experience. My students would benefit for years from having a class set of professional grade fabric scissors. Additionally, these scissors are such good quality that I could sharpen them throughout the school year, ensuring that my students always have sharp scissors to cut even the most difficult to cut fabrics.
