This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are 9th and 10th grade resource students. They are just starting and continuing their adventure in high school. My students come from low income households and many are raised in a single parents or grandparent run home. They are quite social and enjoy the company of their peers.
My students are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners.
They are very active and enjoy being creative. They enjoy being in a classroom that has character. My student have a spark in them that I have not seen before. They can and will, do great things!
Many of my students are visual learners. Rather than purchasing expensive posters that may be irrelevant year to year or are overstimulating, this Cricut machine will allow my to create posters and signs for use in my classroom that will be customized for the needs each year. I have, in the past, made my own posters by cutting by hand. This proved to be incredibly time consuming and the final product was sometimes less than desirable.
My students will have access to the machine when their general education teachers assign projects that require a poster or other artistic element.
This will allow them to make a quality final product. My students will often say, "I'm not an artist" when given poster projects. this tool will allow them to create projects they know they can be proud of.
This tool can also aid in my organization by allowing my to create labels, information cards, etc. This machine is a wonderful addition to any classroom.
