This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you every registered for a class and then realized you couldn't afford the materials you needed? My students have not been able to discover how joyful music can really be because they do not have the basic materials to play their instruments.
My students come from a low-income area where they struggle with covering their basic needs.
They are eager to learn music and deserve the chance to succeed. They attend a middle school that is several generations old, and does not have necessary amount of money in order to build the program.
My Project
I am requesting the purchase of reeds and mouthpieces in order to produce musical performances. We do have some working instruments, but no way to make sounds on them. Holding an instrument that does not make a sound is not any fun. My students will be so excited to be able to play music and enjoy such a wonderful pastime. They will be forever grateful.
With your donations, we will be able to build a brand new band program at Cutler Bay Academy for Advanced Studies, Cutler Ridge Campus.
Our students will have something to finally be proud of.
