My students need a variety of art supplies such as paints, construction paper, scissors, stamps, glue sticks and gemstones to create magical masterpieces.
Sunny Days with Sensational Fours
I teach a class of 20 wonderful and fun loving four year olds at a Title I school in Charleston, SC. All of my students come from low income families. Due to this factor, we are unable to ask our students to bring any supplies to school with them. I am a first year teacher and want to provide my students with rich and meaningful experiences each and every day they are with me!
As I mentioned before, all of the students in my class are from low income families and can not provide all of the materials that they dream of. Unfortunately, neither can I as a first year teacher. The little supplies that are present in my art center were purchased by me and are dwindling fast. Our classroom's art center is a top pick at center time- -the kids absolutely love creating masterpieces to display in the room or to take home to Mom or Dad!
In order to give my students the richest art experience, I need to add a few things to my art center. Currently we have nothing to paint on or to paint with. I need a variety of paints, paper to paint on and jars for easy access to the paint. My students love to cut and paste to create their own individual and unique masterpieces. I will need scissors, glue sticks and construction paper to enable my students to have this opportunity. I will also need stamp pads, stamps, and gems to further spark my students' creativity.
This project will benefit my students in more ways than one. Fine motor skills will be aided with the use of scissors, paint brushes and glue sticks. Color recognition will take place through painting with colors. Smiles will come and laughs will be sure to follow as each child is able to add their own piece of sunshine to our classroom!
