My Students

The students at my school are some of the most exceptional in our district. Being a magnet school, they come from three different attendance zones where almost all of them go on to attend a two or four year post-secondary institution. For many of them, they are the first generation to attend college. The students are very inquisitive about learning and have a great interest in applying what they learn.

Every student has strengths, talents, and determination; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or encouragement to get them to see that they can do anything that they put their mind to.

I often encourage them to learn from their mistakes and let them know that I do believe in them. They may start out weak in some math areas, but by the time that they leave my classroom they are more confident in their math capabilities.

My Project

Helping students to understand math is often challenging for math teachers. I would like to help my students not be bored with the math by allowing them to create colorful math notebooks.

Colored paper helps the students to stay engaged and having a paper cutter would help my students to quickly cut paper without needing to use scissors so that we can quickly get to practicing math problems.

The students like to stay active as they are practicing math. I want to make note-taking as easy as possible for all of my math students. It is quite challenging to have all of the necessary materials to make math interesting and fun.
