Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students in grades 3–5 have moderate to severe disabilities and require highly individualized instruction to access their education. Each student has a unique set of IEP goals that guide their learning in areas such as communication, functional academics, and pre-vocational skills. To support my group of unique learners, I need to create custom materials tailored to each student.

This project will fund essential tools to make that possible.

The binders, Velcro, and copy paper will be used to build individualized work systems, visual schedules, and adapted academic tasks that align with each student’s IEP. Laminating pouches allow us to create durable, reusable materials that support repeated practice and independence. The file storage pocket charts will be used to help students learn to be more independent by organizing and putting away their own classwork and materials each day. The magnetic craft kit will support hands-on learning and fine motor development in a fun and engaging way, such as having students sort objects into categories on the whiteboard.
