My students have moderate to severe disabilities. My students have a variety of disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, orthopedic disabilities, autism, visual impairment and hearing impairment. My students have a lot of trouble accessing the same curriculum that their same aged peers are able to, so I often need to use instructional methods that accommodate their physical, emotional, intellectual and sensory needs. My goal for my students is to give them the skills to live as independently as possible through increasing their access to concepts such as reading and math which are infused in our daily lives. My students are often underestimated, but I believe that they are capable of so much.
