Curriculum for Mrs. Yenerich's DHH Students

Help me give my students fun new resources! After attending DHH Conferences this past week, I have found some awesome new ideas to work on with my students. I am so excited to implement these materials!

My Project

I recently attended two DHH Conferences where I learned a wealth of information and came back with fresh new ideas to incorporate with my students. Some of these ideas include new books with Deaf characters, memory trays to use with little minis to build language development, and a Montessori busy book to take with me as I'm a traveling teacher. I also added vibrating alarm clocks as I have several high school students who are struggling financially but are not able to wake up to regular alarm clocks.

My students have to work so much harder than hearing students to be able to gain the same information.

Most DHH students have to be explicitly taught vocabulary. They do not hear incidental language like their hearing peers.

Providing a variety of motivating activities for them to be able to acquire new language and advocacy skills will go a long way toward giving these students what they need to be successful students.
