My class is a class of 32 enthusiastic learners who come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. The majority of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch, and many of them have already experienced homelessness at some point in their lives. Our classroom is our home away from home. We all come together as a community for lessons and fun activities. However, our resources are limited. We are in need of tools to help meet the needs of each individual learner in our classroom.
In our classroom, we are one big family, and we are part of a larger school community.
Some students struggle with daily academic skills, especially those students who find traditional learning activities difficult or who are learning English as their second language. My students come from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and it is important to celebrate the diversity that exists within our classroom. It is essential that my students learn to understand and celebrate their differences and similarities and to be respectful of other cultures, races, genders, and ideologies.
My Project
My students love to learn about current events and interesting things happening around the world. They are inspired by reading stories about kids, just like them, who are making a difference in our world every single day. This subscription to Scholastic News Magazine will provide my 3rd graders with access to news articles focusing on current events and history.
Scholastic News provides students with access to learning about the world around them.
The digital components of Scholastic News also provide differentiated materials for my struggling readers as well as activities to supplement and enhance the articles. They love to watch the videos online that accompany the articles and use the vocabulary feature to learn new terms. Please help us add this subscription to our third grade classroom!
