My students need 30 subscriptions to TIME For Kids so that they are able to experience news in a print form. My students also need 5 iPods for the ability to experience news from podcasts.

My Students
My students have a difficult time in Civics and Economics class because they have a difficult time relating to the world outside of their neighborhood. TIME For Kids is a newspaper on their level and with the iPods I can connect them to podcasts with news that they can understand.
My students attend a Title I school in Chesapeake, VA.
Many of my students do not have access to news in their home because they do not have a newspaper, cable, or internet. They are thirsty for knowledge but have a hard time obtaining it due to circumstances beyond their control.
My Project
By helping to purchase these items for my classroom, students will be able to access the news in several different ways and thus be able to better understand the information about civics and economics in the classroom.
My students will use the TIME For Kids magazines to obtain current event information in a print format. The iPods will allow my students to access current events in an auditory format which can often times be more difficult for my students to understand and comprehend.
By helping to create informed youth we are building a thirst for information that will hopefully follow them through life.
Our goal as American citizens is to inspire future generations to know and care for their country.
