Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in the second grade. They are eager learners, that share what they believe. They have a view of how the world works. Unfortunately, their world is limited to the borders of inner city Miami. Exposure to what is happening outside of their community is crucial for motivating them to want to understand new ideas and concepts. Map skills, exposure to other cultures, and the environment will enrich learning. My students will benefit from learning that the world is much larger than their community. My students need to learn their place in the world. Most of them do not even know how to locate the US in a map.
