Our first grade students attend school in a low income school district in Massachusetts in which all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Most students do not have the opportunity to experience live theater and would enjoy this rich experience. Our students are very creative and performing arts is one way for them to learn to express their creativity.
The live theater experience will directly connect to the theater enrichment they receive at school but on a much deeper level.
While our school puts on a play each year, students do not have the opportunity to see professional theater performances.
The first grade students at the Frost Elementary school will have the opportunity to experience a live theater performance with a familiar storybook character. Hearing a familiar story acted out fluently is a key component in building a confident reader who will go on many adventures throughout their learning experience.
Students are learning about characters who are going places and learning things.
In this live theater performance, Curious George will be taking a trip to Italy, a place that students in our community have never been. They will be exposed to a different culture as well as learning important lessons which will help to build their background knowledge.
